On Tuesday it was announced by the Portland Trail Blazers that center Marcus Camby will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair a partial tear in the meniscus of his left knee. This news comes after it was initially announced that the MRI performed on Camby came back with a clear bill of health. Only after team doctors were able to review the MRI results did they see that Camby had the tear in his meniscus.
The injury is similar to one Brandon Roy had last season before the NBA playoffs. Camby is expected to be out 4 - 5 weeks. In the meantime forward Dante Cunningham will possibly be seeing more playing time in the power forward spot with LaMarcus Aldridge & Joel Przybilla now splitting duties at center.
Camby has had a history of various injuries involving his hip, foot, & ACL & has had the label of "injury prone" throughout his NBA career. This recent injury though adds to mounting concern some have regarding the Blazer's training staff role with all the injuries that have plagued the Blazers, especially knee injuries.
